A Spaghetti Western Fairytale

Once upon a time, in the West, a miner made his way to Fort St John where he settled in for "the quiet life".

He hadn't figured on meetin up with an outlaw dance hall girl who would quickly steal his heart. The quiet homesteader found himself suddenly being pulled into the life of a desperado- fighting banditos, cattle barons, bushwackers, and less than honorable cavalrymen.

When the smoke settled, Garth discovered he'd struck gold as the leader of the Fenton gang, which now consisted of: Garth the Rogue Welder- himself, Klondike Christy, the Twinkled Toed Tulip, the Ornery Buckaroo, the Moon Eyed Rose, and Ma Fenton.

He decided he ought to be makin an honest woman of that dance hall girl, and so, he figured they best be gettin hitched.

They all lived happily up to and ever after the 4th of July 2009.

For a quick description, we are in North Eastern, BC and are one of the few places in this province on the east side of the Rocky Mountains (see below for a more detailed description). If you can find the Alaska Highway on a map, follow it North a short ways, and you'll find us. Anyway, check here because it is a great resource to start planning your trip! Oh, and click here for a quick over view of local attractions.

The Run Down

So, here's what to expect. If you go in for those traditional type weddings and just can't stand to see convention snubbed, you might want to stay home.

We're renting our beautiful Fair Grounds for the weekend. We are hoping that our guests will all get into the spirit of setting up a boom town and bring a trailer or a tent. There is trailer and rv rental available up here, and I will post that info closer to the date. I will also post a list of hotels.

We are hoping to have a Jack and Jill at the fairgrounds on the Thursday evening. Rehersal hotdogs will be on Friday. As we are having a potlach, I am hoping to break out a few bottles of wine and recruit some generous gals to lend a hand in the kitchen that night, as well. Saturday morning it will be horseshoes for the boys, and primping for the ladies. Our ceremony will be early Sat afternoon at a very special spot. Then we'll kick off the shindig back at the fair grounds. As I mentioned, it'll be a potlach and dance, which will eventually morph into a bonfire and jam session, so, start practicing now. Sunday morning will be a cowboy style pancake breakfast. As soon as we have recovered, we're off to go camping with the kids, likely up the Alaska highway. We'd like to invite all of our guests to join us. Better start begging the boss for some serious vaccation time.

That's what to expect, in a nutshell. By the way, camping gear is on sale now that the season is over. We are hoping to have our friends and family join us for this celebration of our family, as we unite it all proper like. Oh, and don't start shopping for a dress, now. The attire will be jeans (western if you can swing it), Wild West period clothing, or whatever the heck makes you feel comfy- I'd leave the stilletos at home. And don't get crazy shopping for toasters either. We don't have room for the stuff we've got now. I will, however be posting a list of jobs we need volunteers for, so, you'd make our wedding dreams come true if you could pick one and pitch in.

That's about all for now. I can't wait to unite my favourite people in the whole wide world.
