A Spaghetti Western Fairytale

Once upon a time, in the West, a miner made his way to Fort St John where he settled in for "the quiet life".

He hadn't figured on meetin up with an outlaw dance hall girl who would quickly steal his heart. The quiet homesteader found himself suddenly being pulled into the life of a desperado- fighting banditos, cattle barons, bushwackers, and less than honorable cavalrymen.

When the smoke settled, Garth discovered he'd struck gold as the leader of the Fenton gang, which now consisted of: Garth the Rogue Welder- himself, Klondike Christy, the Twinkled Toed Tulip, the Ornery Buckaroo, the Moon Eyed Rose, and Ma Fenton.

He decided he ought to be makin an honest woman of that dance hall girl, and so, he figured they best be gettin hitched.

They all lived happily up to and ever after the 4th of July 2009.

Ceremony Been Changed

It's been chnaged to our horse pasture. Just follow down Baldonnel rd. Instead of going straight on the gravel, folllow the road around the corner to the right. The necxt corner to follow will be to the left (it will have dumpsters at it), then a right corner, a left corner (grey modular and willows at it), one last right (you should see the river hills now) 5 speed corners. After the last corner you will see a sign that says Webb's farm followed by two trailers, take the next left (a farm road, pass the fisrt paddock and turn into the second. See you there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Fort St John have an airport?
Yes. We do. There is car rental and taxi service available from the airport, as well.

Where is everyone staying?
Rooms are blocked at the Stonebridge (see where to say), but we would love for everyone to camp out at the fairgrounds.

I'm bringing an RV. Are there hookups at the fairgrounds?
No. Sorry. There are some nice camp spots and clean, but nonpottable well water is available.

I'd really like to camp, but I don't have a trailer.
There is trailer rental available in Fort St John (250) 785-6829. It is a long weekened however, so be sure to call right away.

Are children welcome?
In case you missed it, YES. We love kids.

I noticed you said you are providing wine and beer. I like rum. Can I bring my own?
Sure. We will have a small selection of beer and wine, but if you would like to drink something else, you are welcome to bring your own.

How far is the reception from the ceremony site?
The Fairgrounds are about 20 min out o town. The ceremony site is about half an hour from town. However, it is best to try and arrive at the ceremony site as early as possible, as the road in is narrow and could easily become congested. Carpooling is encouraged.

What should I wear?
The dress is Western casual. That means jeans, or whatever you're comfortable wearing.

What should I bring?
A hat, sunblock, bug spray, warmer clothes for the evening, water, and a salad, side or veggie tray. We will provide water at both sites, but it is always a good idea to bring your own.

Are you saying you don't want gifts?
We have so much stuff already, and your coming is a gift. However, we would really love if you could volunteer a little time to help our day go off without a hitch.

Feel free to add your questions to the comments, email us, or call.

Where to Stay

We have the fall fair grounds rented from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon. Obviously, we would like for everyone to come and camp out. It's fun and helps us to eliminate any drinking and driving. If you are interested in trailer rental, please check the sidebar or under rentals for more information.

If you are looking for a hotel, rooms have been set aside at the Stonebridge. It is located on the corner of the Alaska Highway (way to the ceremony) and 100th (way to the reception). They offer the best rate in town at about $100 a night for a standard room. For more info click on the highlighted Stonebridge. The rooms are blocked under Jordan/Fenton.

The Run Down

So, here's what to expect. If you go in for those traditional type weddings and just can't stand to see convention snubbed, you might want to stay home.

We're renting our beautiful Fair Grounds for the weekend. We are hoping that our guests will all get into the spirit of setting up a boom town and bring a trailer or a tent. There is trailer and rv rental available up here, and I will post that info closer to the date. I will also post a list of hotels.

We are hoping to have a Jack and Jill at the fairgrounds on the Thursday evening. Rehersal hotdogs will be on Friday. As we are having a potlach, I am hoping to break out a few bottles of wine and recruit some generous gals to lend a hand in the kitchen that night, as well. Saturday morning it will be horseshoes for the boys, and primping for the ladies. Our ceremony will be early Sat afternoon at a very special spot. Then we'll kick off the shindig back at the fair grounds. As I mentioned, it'll be a potlach and dance, which will eventually morph into a bonfire and jam session, so, start practicing now. Sunday morning will be a cowboy style pancake breakfast. As soon as we have recovered, we're off to go camping with the kids, likely up the Alaska highway. We'd like to invite all of our guests to join us. Better start begging the boss for some serious vaccation time.

That's what to expect, in a nutshell. By the way, camping gear is on sale now that the season is over. We are hoping to have our friends and family join us for this celebration of our family, as we unite it all proper like. Oh, and don't start shopping for a dress, now. The attire will be jeans (western if you can swing it), Wild West period clothing, or whatever the heck makes you feel comfy- I'd leave the stilletos at home. And don't get crazy shopping for toasters either. We don't have room for the stuff we've got now. I will, however be posting a list of jobs we need volunteers for, so, you'd make our wedding dreams come true if you could pick one and pitch in.

That's about all for now. I can't wait to unite my favourite people in the whole wide world.
